I’m pleased to announce that the paperback edition of The Republic Game will officially be released on October 1.
The Kindle edition was quietly released earlier, but the arrival of the paperback marks the full launch of a story that grew from a simple question: How can we help young readers understand that American government is more than a collection of facts to memorize?
In The Republic Game, thirteen-year-olds David Stafford and Isabella Martinez have never met. David is spending an afternoon with friends in an escape room, while Isabella is pursuing her interest in photography. Each discovers half of a mysterious broken medallion, and when the two pieces come together, they are transported to an extraordinary circular library known as the Game Chamber.
Waiting for them are the mysterious Game Master, twelve unusual doors, and a challenge that will take them through important moments in the American story. Along the way, David and Isabella encounter questions involving independence, constitutional government, federalism, individual rights, civic participation, and the responsibilities that come with citizenship.
The book was written primarily for younger readers, but I also wanted it to be something parents and educators could use to begin conversations about how our system of government developed and why it continues to depend on informed citizens.
The paperback edition of The Republic Game will be available beginning October 1, with the Kindle edition already available. It is currently available in Kindle at Amazon. Click here to go to the book page!
